Virginia's Attorney General announces settlement with fundraising firm

Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli says his office has reached a settlement with a company that solicited funds for a fraudulent group that donated to political candidates.

Cuccinelli received $55,500 from the United States Navy Veterans Association. He donated the money to military charities after questions arose about the organization's validity.

The settlement announced Tuesday is with Associated Community Services Inc., which made telemarketing calls for the organization.

ACS will pay more than $65,000 in refunds and penalties in Virginia for allegedly violating the state's contribution solicitation law. ACS did not admit wrongdoing in the agreement, which must be approved by a judge.
