Virginia's population rate growing faster than national rate
The number of people in Virginia is going up faster than the national rate.

That's what some researchers at the University of Virginia are reporting.

The commonwealth's population grew by more than one percent since July of last year.

The U.S. population grew by less than a percent.

There are 35 areas of the state where the number of people is going down.

Most of them are found in our area - Southern and Southwest Virginia.

The fastest growing parts of the state are Richmond, Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia.
