Want to visit the Virginia Tech campus? There's an app for that.

The university now has a "Visit VT" app for Apple i-Phones, i-Pad and i-Pod touch.

The app gives visitors all the information they need for a campus trip, including parking, dining, directions and maps, all at their fingertips.

Tech says this is the first app of its kind; targeted at visitors instead of students.

"Some apps offer programs when you get on campus you can register for classes, check things out, read news, but this is solely if you are planning to come VT to tour the University and get a sense of what you can do when you are here," said John Jackson, with VT media relations.

The app is free and now available at the Apple iTunes apps store.

It was designed by Smart College Visit, Inc. in partnership with Virginia Tech.
