Double rainbow after Thursday's storms

Andrew Wood from Craig county shared this photo of a double rainbow that formed after Thursday afternoon's strong storms. (Andrew Wood / May 24, 2013)

An isolated shower can't be ruled out overnight. Otherwise, clouds will linger with lows in the 50s tonight.

A ridge of high pressure will build during the Memorial Day weekend, delivering plenty of sunshine and low rain chances. Should be a nice one to get outside.

Look for much cooler air to arrive today along with a gusty northwest wind. Skies will turn mostly sunny with highs in the upper 60s. Winds could gust up to 30mph at times in the mountains. Overnight lows will be quite cool, with upper 30s and low 40s.

SATURDAY & SUNDAY
Sunshine returns with highs in the low 70s. Winds turn light. *These would be the best days to BBQ.

MONDAY (Memorial Day)
Skies turn mostly cloudy with a few showers possible during the afternoon and evening.

Looking ahead to next week, it appears the stormy pattern will return, but certainly not a washout. Scattered afternoon showers and storms are possible Monday through Thursday, with the best coverage of storms on Thursday. It's still early, but the following weekend looks fairly dry.
