It's an annual tradition that brings people from near and far. But this year, strawberry picking has started sooner than expected.
Business owner J.D. Scott says weather conditions caused the strawberries to be ready earlier than expected. He is excited to let people know they can come visit his farm earlier than usual. “We really have a nice crop this year everything looks good and we really wanna let people know we're open now which is early,” he said.
Doris Scott spent time picking stawberries on Thursday. “He's always got a nice clean path you can pick all you want as fast as you want and he's got the best tasting berries,” she said.
The farmis open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. this week. Next week, hours willl expand to 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Don't forget to mark your calendar. The annual Strawberry Festival will take place May 19th and 20th at Scott's Farm and will include the first ever Strawberry Princess Pageant as well as a pie eating contest, homemade ice cream, and much more.
