Whipping Roanokers Into Financial Shape

The worst of the economic recession may be over, but locally, more people are taking advantage of free financial classes at the Jefferson Center in Roanoke.

Money Monday's, as it's called, touches on everything from how to save, creating a realistic budget and what are the best credit cards to use.

Alicia Thompson, attended the course this past Monday for a session that focused on credit cards.

"I was just talking to my fiancee today and he was saying maybe we should get just one credit card, just to have one," says Thompson.

Several local credit unions including FreedomFirst and SalemVA are behind the initative to make sure Roanokers are fiscally smart.

Money Monday's is offered once a month from 6:30p.m. to 8:30p.m. The next date is November 12th.  The class will focus on Credit History and Reports.
