Wirtz man pleads guilty to illegal alcohol charges

A Wirtz man will be sentenced in January on illegal alcohol and weapons charges stemming from a raid of his home.

Lester Ray Hodge pleaded guilty Tuesday in Franklin County Circuit Court to illegal manufacture of alcohol and possession of a sawed-off shotgun. Sentencing is set for Jan. 3.

The Roanoke Times reports that Commonwealth's Attorney Tim Allen agreed not to prosecute two related charges in exchange for the 44-year-old Hodge's plea.

Also, Hodge's wife, Michelle Lynn Hodge, won't be prosecuted on a weapons charge.
