Tuesday's vote in Wisconsin could have implications for political campaigns in Virginia and across the nation.
Wisconsin's Republican Governor Scott Walker survived a recall vote, beating his Democratic opponent with 53 percent of the vote. Hollins University Political Science Professor Ed Lynch says Walker was rewarded for his strong stands, and Lynch believes the results will encourage other Republicans to take political risks.
"You know we see some of this in Virginia as well," Lynch told WDBJ7. "Bob McDonnell took some very controversial stands particularly on reproductive rights this past session. He's still the most popular politician in the state, and that seems that's where the American people are right now. Do what we elected you to do, take the tough stands and face the consequences."
Lynch says Virginia campaigns will also be looking closely at the Republicans' get out the vote effort in Wisconsin, an election day operation that has traditionally favored Democrats in that state.

Add / View comments | Discussion FAQWisconsin has nothing to do with the Commonwealth. We have a full set of our own problems and opportunities. Many are in the working stage and could well be finished with vigor soon. The most important element coming up is the election on 11-6-12 (11-7-12 for the Democrats because of a new Senate rule that postpones every piece of legislature coming before it) to elect our next (emphasis on next) president, Senator (with hope NOT a Democrat) and House member. Begin the thinking process now if you have not started and do not permit any rhetoric to cloud your mind.
Think objectively for a second and ask yourself "would I vote for a president who has an absolute history of smoking pot and crack." Those are his words; not mine. How about a president who knows how to spend more of our money that any collective group of presidents before him. AND not have anything to show for it. Whoops. I forgot the mess on Rt 221 is about 50% completed for a cost so far of over $100 million for ONE MILE of roadbed. Wow talk about shovel ready. How much has been squandered on the magnificent Poff Building? Would that be another $100 million? Yep.
Maybe Ms. Davis could ask Barry some of these questions during her visit to the White House on 6-11 or whenever it takes place.
You guys should research Obama and his membership in the NEW Party in 1996.
