Wounded warrior will make first trip home for special fundraiser

An Altavista man who was wounded in Afghanistan will be making his first trip home next weekend.

Staff Sergeant Christopher Walker will take part in a bike ride fundraiser next Saturday, June 16, in Altavista, according to Walker family spokesperson Kim Taylor.

Walker will receive a military escort from Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, where he is currently undergoing rehabilitative treatment.

Back in April, Walker was critically wounded by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan.  He lost a leg and his arms were badly damaged.
