A Pembroke woman is dead in a wreck on Route 460W a few miles east of Pembroke. It happened around 8:30 a.m. Thursday. State Police say Phyllis Cumbee died when she pulled out from an intersection in front of a State Police cruiser. She wasn't wearing her seatbelt and was thrown out of her car. Trooper J. C. Reynolds wasn't hurt badly. He's already been treated and released from the hospital. State Police don't think Trooper Reynolds was on a call at the time of the crash.

Route 460 has been cleared after a deadly accident near Pembroke.

The driver of a pickup truck was killed after the person pulled into the path of a state police cruiser.
The crash happened on U. S. Route 460 near Pembroke in Giles County around 8:25 a.m. The pickup truck driver died at the scene. The trooper was hurt and taken to Giles Community Hospital. Neither person's identity has been released by state police.
An accident investigation team is on scene. As of 10:15 a.m., traffic was moving slowly through the area. The crash is located near Grill Road, between Pembroke and Pearisburg.
