SALUDA, N.C. (AP)—
Authorities say a 16-month-old girl died in
Saluda after she fell out of a pickup truck being driven by her
father.Saluda City Administrator Erny Williams told The Times-News of Hendersonville that 27-year-old Brian Huff picked up his daughter in his work truck after being called to a family emergency. The truck did not have a child safety seat.
Authorities say the toddler was not restrained when the truck door came open and she fell out.
Williams says the death has been ruled an accident, and investigators don't know why the pickup's door opened.
State troopers are helping Saluda police investigate the death.
