NEW JERSEY (PIX11)—
Home video of the aftermath captured what it looked and sounded like in Hillsdale New Jersey, Westwood and other nearby communities after our area's water soaked weekend. The video was sent to PIX 11 News by one washed-out North Jersey resident. Streets were flooded, cars and homes were soaked. Late Monday, the cleanup started.Like so many residents of this part of North Jersey, tonight Dan Atkins was cleaning up after the recent storms and worrying about predictions of another downpour to come. Atkins now wonders what that would mean for himself and his neighbors who live near the threatening banks of the swollen Pascack Brook.
Some residents are especially upset at the local water company which they worry is not doing enough to control local water levels at the nearby Woodcliff Lake reservoir to thereby ease flooding issues. They say it leaves neighbors to rely solely on email alerts, which give scant warning of surging flood waters.
In published reports the water company says the issue is too complicated to single them out as being responsible.
