RICHMOND, VA (WTVR) - The U.S. Marshals Service says man wanted for a New Jersey homicide shot and killed himself outside theRichmond Greyhound station Tuesday morning.
Authorities say as a federal agent approached, 21-year-old Allen Barron pointed a gun at the agent, then turned and fatally shot himself.
The U.S. Marshals Service's Kevin Connolly says Barron was wanted for killing a female corrections officer in New Jersey Tuesday morning.
Police say the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force tracked Barron to the Greyhound station.
Moments before the fatal shot was fired, a task force member approached Barron trying to make a positive identification.
Officers were dispatched to the station, located in the 2900 block of North Boulevard, around 10:40 a.m.
According to police, passengers were never in any danger.
Additionally, police say there was no exchange of gunfire between the man and police.
