This year, Marilyn Jones of Henderson, Texas, visited the gathering that helps the Sioux children appreciate their culture, develop pride in their heritage and share their traditions, and she found a bright example in this youngster. Situated on the Missouri River, Chamberlain is home to the Akta Lakota Museum and Cultural Center and the Lewis and Clark Keelboat Center. Dates for the 2012 powwow are Sept. 14 and 15. |
