QB Benkert Has Career Day

Redshirt freshman Josh Jackson threw for 372 yards and five touchdowns — three to Cam Phillips — to help No. 16 Virginia Tech beat East Carolina 64-17 on Saturday.

Kurt Benkert passed for a school-record breaking 455 yards and Virginia avenged a heartbreak loss last season with a 38-18 victory over Connecticut on Saturday.

Quarterback Bryan Schor had 149 yards passing for the Dukes (3-0). Trai Sharp ran for 130 yards and had one rushing and one receiving touchdown. Marcus Marshall ran for two scores. The Dukes amassed 728 total yards while holding Norfolk State to just 91 yards.
