Assistant executive director of the South Dakota High School Activities Association, Bob Lowery, will retire after one more school year.
Lowery, whose resignation is effective June 30, 2012, notified the SDHSAA board of directors at the June meeting in Pierre. Lowery's responsibilities include serving as the top administrator for football, cross country, golf, wrestling and track and field. Since 1998 he has assembled the regular season football schedule in all classes. Lowery has worked as an assistant executive director for 17 years.
In his previous jobs he taught and coached at Vermillion High School for 17 years. Lowery graduated from Superior (Neb.) High School, Peru (Neb.) State College and South Dakota State University.
Brian Lowery, Brad's son, has taught and coached at Aberdeen Central for eight years. Brian has served as the head boys' cross country coach since 2003 and the head boys' track coach since 2009. Brian and his wife Jennifer Lowery recently accepted teaching and administrative positions, respectively, at Tea Area public schools.
