Prognosticator takes a look at prep finals

Time to make more predictions.

 First, the South Dakota high school football championships are this week at the DakotaDome in Vermillion. All the games will be on South Dakota Public TV.

 In Saturday’s semifinals, I went 8-4, which makes me 64-16 for the postseason. Three of my Argus Leader friends went 9-3: Mick Garry (69-11 overall), Stu Whitney (68-12) and Justin Wulf (68-12). My Sioux Falls newspaper buddy Matt Zimmer went 8-4 (67-13).

 I’ve got nothing.

 Here are my football picks:

Class 9A Championship: Canistota (11-0) vs. Warner (11-0), 11 a.m. Thursday. I pick Canistota.

Class 9AA Championship: Deubrook Area (11-0) vs. Howard (9-2), 2:30 p.m. Thursday. I pick Deubrook.

Class 9B Championship: Harding County (11-0) vs. Colome (10-1), 7:30 p.m. Thursday. I pick Harding County.

Class 11B championship: Tri-Valley (10-1) vs. Winner (11-0), 2:30 p.m. Friday. I pick Winner.

Class 11A championship: Dell Rapids (10-1) vs. Harrisburg (9-2), 7:30 p.m. Friday. I pick Dell Rapids.

Class 11AA championship: Sioux Falls Washington (11-0) vs. Brandon Valley (11-0), 7:30 p.m. Saturday. I pick Brandon Valley.

 

Volleyball picks

 I went 11-5 in my picks for the South Dakota high school volleyball Class B districts and 13-3 in the A districts. The AA district championships will be played tonight as well as the A and B regional championships.

 Here are my picks for tonight (keeping in mind I picked the AA districts last week):

District 1AA: Sioux Falls Roosevelt at Sioux Falls O’Gorman, 7 p.m. I picked Sioux Falls O’Gorman.

District 2AA: Yankton at Sioux Falls Washington, 7 p.m. I picked Sioux Falls Washington.

District 3AA: Mitchell at Aberdeen Central, 7 p.m. at Golden Eagles Arena. I picked Aberdeen Central.

District 4AA: Rapid City Stevens at Rapid City Central at 7 p.m. MST. I picked Rapid City Central.

Region 1A: Aberdeen Roncalli at Milbank, 7 p.m. I pick Aberdeen Roncalli.
