Senior midfielder John Haus and junior goalie Niko Amato of top-ranked Maryland were the Atlantic Coast Conference men's lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Amato, meanwhile, made 10 of his 13 saves in the second and fourth quarters to preserve the victory, which vaulted the Terps from No. 3 to No. 1 in The Baltimore Sun poll.

Brown top rookie in ECAC
After recording four goals and three assists Saturday in an 18-8 win over Marquette, Ohio State freshman attackman Carter Brown (Calvert Hall) was named Eastern College Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, the league announced.
Brown had a point in all five of the No. 12 Buckeyes' man-up goals and is now second on the team with 14 points (six goals and a team-best eight assists).
Spalding's Vautier wins
York senior defender Katie Vautier (Archbishop Spalding) was chosen as the Capital Athletic Conference women's lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week after collecting five draw controls and forcing three turnovers in a season-opening victory over Goucher. ... After a season-opening 19-5 win over Stevenson, Salisbury remains at No. 2 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Top 20 poll. Trinity (Conn.) College, which defeated the Sea Gulls in the national title game last season, remains No.1.
Men's basketball honors
St. Mary's men's basketball coach Chris Harney was selected as the CAC Coach of the Year for the third time in his career.
Receiving conference honors with Harney were sophomore guard Nick LaGuerre (Lansdowne), senior guard Devin Spencer (Towson Catholic) and junior guard Donn Hill (Bel Air). LaGuerre earned first-team honors, while Spencer and Hill garnered spots on the second team. Frostburg State senior swingman Christian Jackson and Salisbury senior shooting guard Travon Vann also made the first team. Salisbury junior guard Tim Harwood received second-team honors. ... Penn State Altoona senior guard Durant Harvin (Franklin) was named to the All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference third team.
Women's basketball honors
Johns Hopkins senior Alex Vassila and freshman Liz Tommasi were selected to the All-Centennial Conference women's basketball team. Vassila was named to the first team, while Tommasi earned honorable mention. Salisbury sophomore Anna Hackett also was named to the first team, while freshman Julia McLaughlin was Rookie of the Year. McDaniel senior Rachael Rybak (Franklin), Salisbury senior Katie McGahagan and St. Mary's senior Joanna Murray Franklin) were named to the second team.
Terps' White top hitter
Maryland sophomore center fielder Charlie White earned National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association National Hitter of the Week honors. ... Mount St. Mary's (3-4) topped St. Bonaventure, 14-8, as Nick Walker went 3-for-5 with four runs scored. ... Johns Hopkins women's cross country team has been named the NCAA Division III Women's Scholar Team of the Year for the 2012 season, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Navy duo chosen
Navy senior Brigid Byrne and sophomore Annie-Norah Beveridge were chosen to the Patriot League women's indoor track and field All-Academic Team.
Mids' Galvin wins award
Navy senior Christopher Galvin was named Patriot League indoor track and field Scholar Athlete of the Year. Galvin was joined by teammates Jeremy Cadiente and Brett Bogaard on the league's All-Academic Team.
Honor for UM's Krikorian
Maryland senior Ally Krikorian was voted East Atlantic Gymnastics League Specialist of the Week. It is the third time this season Krikorian has won the award and the seventh consecutive week a Maryland gymnast has earned the honor.
