Junior Ian Chiles scored 16 points and hit a pair of clutch free throws to help Morgan State hold off host Howard, 53-51, on Monday night.
The Bears (8-12, 4-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) won the rebounding battle 37-25 and outscored the Bison (6-18, 3-7 MEAC) in the paint 30-10. Chiles, a 7-foot-2 center, pulled down seven rebounds and had three blocked shots. His 16 points matched a career high set at UNLV on Nov. 20, 2011.
Junior Justin Black had 13 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore guard Blake Bozeman had 11 points for the Bears.

Norfolk State 85, UMES 63: Kevin Mays finished with a game-high 20 points, 17 in the first half, and a team-high five rebounds, but they weren't enough for the visiting Hawks (1-19, 1-8 MEAC) against the conference-leading Spartans (16-10, 11-0).

Norfolk State 54, UMES 51: The visiting Hawks nearly pulled off a huge comeback, getting to within two points after being down as many as 20 in the second half, but came up short.
Karona Roach led UMES (6-14, 2-7 MEAC) with 19 points, while Sha-Kiylya Finney shot 10-for-10 from the free-throw line to finish with 10 points.
But UMES could not stop Rachel Gordon, who finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Spartans (5-17, 3-8). The Hawks were down 51-31 with 9:35 remaining, but a 20-2 run cut the lead to two with 40 seconds left. That was as close as they got.
Howard 68, Morgan State 33: The visiting Bears (8-16, 5-6 MEAC) were held to a season-low 10 points in the first half and never recovered.
The Bison (14-9, 8-3) was led by Saadia Doyle, who had a game-high 21 points and nine rebounds. Morgan State, which shot 16 percent (9-for-54) from the field, was led by Chyress Lockhart's team-high nine points and game-high three steals.
Salisbury 73, Trinity (D.C.) 49: Four Sea Gulls (12-11) scored in double digits, including senior Katie McGahagan, who picked up a doubledouble. Visiting Salisbury scored half its first-half points off turnovers by the Tigers (6-12).
