CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -

The Virginia Cavaliers held a closed scrimmage earlier this week, where freshman receiver Doni Dowling put on a show.

Dowling, an unheralded two-star prospect from Varina High School in Richmond, caught three touchdown passes in Wednesday's scrimmage. He is pushing for playing time in an unproven receiving corps.

“It’s another spot that everyone around him understand you have got to raise your level of play,” said Head Coach Mike London. “He’s a young man that wants to play. We’re 99.9 percent committed to playing him and his level of play is making the other guys realize that it’s not a walk in the park – you have to play at your best at all times,” London added.
