NEWARK, N.J. -

One of the hardest hitting safeties in the NFL is a member of the Seahawks self-titled “Legion of Boom.” He’s also a former Virginia Tech Hokie.

Kam Chancellor of Norfolk is now getting his chance to shine in the national spotlight.

The 2010 fifth round pick out of Virginia Tech had 11 combined tackles in the NFC Championship Game against the 49ers. He also had an interception and a two pass breakups.

Now number 31 has a chance to take his Hokie legacy and continue it in the National Football League, by hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.

“There’s going to be a lot of emotion,” he said. “Guys dream to be here. [They] dream all their life to be here. So when this game comes there’s going to be so much emotion.”

In the “Legion of Boom” secondary, Chancellor may be the biggest name in Southwest Virginia, nationwide it’s Cornerback Richard Sherman who has stolen the spotlight with his outlandish interviews and honestly.

“I used to tell him calm down,” added Chancellor. “But when you see his play, he’s backing everything he says up.”
