FOREST, Va. -

One of the most popular coaches in the history of Jefferson Forest High School is returning as head football coach.

An official announcement is expected to come from the school system later this week that Bob Christmas will take over the job, 17 years after leaving to coach in Georgia.

Christmas spent four seasons at Bainbridge High School and 13 more at North Hall outside of Gainesville, Georgia. He's won 247 career games in his 38 year career.

Christmas led Jefferson Forest to three state title game appearances, winning championships in 1992 and 1993.

One reason for the move back was the fact that he has several children and grandchildren in the Lynchburg area.
