EL PASO, Texas -

Sunday started with a chapel service from Virginia Tech Chaplain, Dave Gittings.

But after the service it was back to work for the Hokies who are now just two days away from their first meeting with UCLA.

The big news Sunday centered on placekicking. Michael Branthover will get the kicking duties in Tuesday's Sun Bowl over Eric Kristensen.

"Kristensen has been not quite as steady as he had been," said Head Coach Frank Beamer. "Branthover has been booming them. I think in the big picture rather than have a short kicker who Kristensen was 25 and in, and a deep kicker that Michael was... I'd rather have the one guy that's in there and kicking."

Also observing practice today was CBS Sports Football analyst, Gary Danielson.

The former NFL Quarterback will call the game alongside Verne Lundquist on CBS.

"This is always kind of a building block game," said Danielson. "Virginia Tech is a very proud team that didn't have the year they wanted and UCLA is building. It should be interesting to watch these teams."
