She won eight of 10 GP races and placed second in two others. Her only losses came against Renee High of Virginia Beach, an elite runner who has twice qualified for the Olympic Trials in the marathon.

Terry, an assistant cross country coach at Smithfield High School, finished ahead of six-time GP champion Jennifer Quarles. Last year, Terry outscored her 99-96, this time 98-92.

"It was a great season," Terry, 24, said. "It felt good to win two times in a row."

The men's title went to Greg Dawson, edging fellow Williamsburg runner Daniel Shaye, 85-84.

Only points from a runner's best-10 races out of 18 events were used in determining the champions, who were honored Saturday at the club's awards banquet in Williamsburg.

Terry clinched the women's title with two races to go with back-to-back wins at the Crapolfest and Governor's Land 5Ks. She set a course record and personal best at the Crapolfest in 17:22 and went 17:44 at Governor's Land. In her 10 races, she set four course records and seven age-group records.

Dawson's fate wasn't decided until the final race, the Sentara Sleighbell 5K. He finished sixth in the race but got an assist from Steve Chantry, who edged Shaye for fourth, and giving Dawson the title by one point.

"I was real excited and very honored to win," Dawson said on Monday. "I'd been close a couple of times before."

In 2010, he'd tied for first with Mark Tompkins but lost the tiebreaker.

Dawson, 47, topped his season with his first victory in the overall category in a CRR Grand Prix race, the York River State Park Recovery Run 5K. He followed that with a win at the Hare and Tortoise 5K. Shaye, last season's runner-up, was at his best early in the season, winning four of five races in one stretch.

Third-place awards went to defending men's champ Todd Kessler of Smithfield with 72 points and to Mercedes Castillo-D'Amico with 69 points for the women.

Taylor Harrison took the all-around title in the 17-and-over division to head World Class Gymnastics at the Parkettes Invitational Jan. 25-27 in Allentown, Pa.

Harrison finished with an AA score of 37.825 and tied for fourth overall in the combined Level 10 competition. The highly competitive meet was a qualifier for the Nastia Liukin Cup, with only two gymnasts earning a berth.

Harrison's top placements were a tie for third on vault (9.775) and third on bars (9.225).

Other solid performances came from K.C. Locher, second in her session of the AA (35.8), and Rebekah Conrad with a win on bars (9.375) and third in the AA (37.20).

For Level 9 teams, World Class finished second overall. Jamie Stone won firsts in the 15-and-over AA (37.15) and beam (9.3). Other winners included Katlyn Turek on vault (9.7) and Lily Olson on bars (9.4).
