The Virginia Cavaliers are leaving Thursday for the West Coast to try to get ready for their game late Saturday night against Southern Cal in the L.A. Coliseum.

It is their first road game of the season and also the first ever game for a UVA team in the state of California.

The challenge for the Wahoos will not only to be to try and beat the Trojans on their home field, but to also overcome traveling all the way across the country and dealing with the time change.

Mike London and the staff have tried to educate the players this week on how to best prepare for the trip, but in the end it is up to the players to overcome any problems that may arise.

"The things about crowds and excitement and all the other distractions, you got to make sure that as much as you can as possible not make that part of the issue what is going on.  Long trip, all these other issues are going on just focusing on the game and the blocking and the tackling and the things that they do," said Mike London.

"You can't let all the outside distractions of the flight out there, staying in the hotel and it will be a night game so you just have to stay focused," said Matt Conrath.

The game doesn't kickoff until 10:30 p.m. east coast time on Saturday night.
