BLACKSBURG, Va.—
New Tech basketball coach James Johnson is still trying to assemble a staff and persuade one of two Virginia Tech recruits to stay with the Hokies. But Tuesday he got some bad news with word that forward Dorian Finney-Smith is leaving the program.
The Norfolk Daily Press was the first to report the news, and it is indeed true.
Apparently the move is not related to the coaching change, but was sealed when assistant John Richardson left to return to Old Dominion a few weeks ago.
Richardson recruited Finney-Smith to Blacksburg.
Dorian made the ACC's All Freshman team last year, averaging 6.3 points and 7 rebounds per game, starting 30 of 33 contests in a Hokie uniform.
He was Tech's most heralded recruit since Dell Curry back in 1982.
