“Football is the family business.  Even my mom and sister like football,” Virginia Tech linebacker Chase Williams said.

The Virginia Tech Hokies moved practice from the Superdome to the New Orleans Saints practice facility Sunday to make room for the Saints-Panthers game.  Tech linebacker and special teams player Chase Williams already knew his way around the place.  Chase's Dad Gregg is the defensive coordinator for the Saints.

“I've been here since the 24th but, I've talked to him on the phone mostly. This is gonna be something that I'll remember for the rest of my life.

Gregg Williams, the Saints’ defensive coordinator said: “He chose Virginia Tech and what a great choice that was of all the places that were recruiting him. It's a very well developed sense of blue collar work ethic. Now he has a chance to play in the Sugar Bowl and hopefully I'll get to go to the game. We'll see where we are next week.

The elder Williams talks to Hokies defensive coordinator Bud Foster regularly. And he wouldn't have his son anywhere else but Blacksburg.

“When you turn your kids over to someone you just want to know that they're gonna be ok,” Gregg Williams said. “My son is also playing for the special teams coach in Frank beamer and defensive coordinator in Bud Foster. But he's got to prove himself everyday. Just because I'm doing this, doesn't make any difference and that's what Bud Foster and Frank Beamer told him when he got here.’

Chase Williams said: “They have a great respect for one another, dad and coach foster.  You know they're both doing the same thing and working hard at it, doing it the right way so you know they have a great respect for each other.”
