BLACKSBURG, Va.—
The Virginia Tech Hokies hadn't started 0-2 in the ACC basketball season since 2005, but that's exactly what they were facing if they couldn't hold court Tuesday at home against Florida State.Virginia Tech entered with an 8-1 record inside the Cassell.
But the Seminoles have one of the stingiest defenses in the nation, and FSU tied the record for blocks by an opponent with 15 against Tech.
The Seminoles led by 9 at the break.
CJ Barksdale played good minutes , collects the loose ball and puts it in for 2, Tech down 37-29.
Tech trailed by two with seconds to play. Erick Green got a good look but it wouldn't fall.
So it was another comeback that fell just short for the Hokies, who are now 0-2 to start conference play.
"We're a great team, I really believe that as well. But we just got to learn to put it all together. It's early, we're starting off 0-2 but we're a great team we're going to get it back together," said Green, who had a team-high 21 points.
The loss drops the Hokies' record to 11-5 overall, and 0-2 in the ACC.
"I feel much better about our team today," Hokies coach Seth Greenberg said. "Thought we were immature on Saturday. I thought we showed some maturity today. We didn't play well but we showed some maturity."
