The Virginia Tech Hokies are still thinking about what might have been in Tuesday night's Sugar Bowl. They failed to capitalize on several opportunities and then had their hearts broken when a touchdown catch by Danny Coale was overturned on a questionable replay in overtime.

Now the Hokies will look in the mirror before looking into the future.

Despite the loss to Michigan here in the Superdome, the Hokies senior class goes out with two ACC Championships and three BCS bowl game appearances.

“It's been a great career,” Coale said. “To be associated with the program and these guys, the wins and the bowl games, the championships. It's pretty special and those are memories that I'm gonna take with me forever.”

Sophomore linebacker Tariq Edwards said: “It's gonna hurt tremendously.  It hurts the guys that are not going out so I can imagine how they feel, going out without a win in the Sugar Bowl. They played their tail off as well, every senior and I thank them for being good leaders.  It's gonna hurt them down the road as well.”

Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer said: “I'm about as sick as I can be right now. But I'm proud as can be of our players and I'm proud of how we battled back and I'm proud of what we are as a football team. It wasn't a lack of effort or a lack of preparation.”

The Hokies wrap up the season with a record of 11-3, and spring practice is just three months away.
