We're just hours away from the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans where the Virginia Tech Hokies will battle Michigan.

Tuesday night will be the Hokies’ fourth BCS Bowl game appearance in the last five years.

One of Tech's finest moments came in the 2000 Sugar Bowl when they played Florida State for the national championship.  It's hard to believe that's been 12 years ago.

On that January night here in the Big Easy, Michael Vick dazzled the sellout crowd and kept the Seminoles defense guessing all night.  Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson has some Vick-like qualities and has been compared to Michael all week and all season.  Denard was only 8 years old in 2000, but he's flattered to be mentioned in the same breath with the former Hokie.

“Oh, man. He made it look easy to make guys miss,” Robinson said. “That's one of the things I caught. He had a strong arm and just flicked the ball down the field. Just so easy and that's some of the things I admire about him.”

Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer sees the comparisons.

“The first thing the guy has to do is be able to throw the football and then after that, the more of an athlete he is the better he is,” Beamer said. “It's all pluses from there. Michael just happened to be at the top of the list at both.  Denard, their guy does a great job of that. He not only can run it but he can throw it. He's good at throwing the football.”
