Virginia Tech men's basketball team looking to buck trend during West Virginia trip

A lot has changed already for Virginia Tech's men's basketball team, undefeated under new head coach James Johnson. On Saturday the Hokies will try to buck another trend as they learn to handle success.

The last five times Tech has beaten a ranked team they've followed up that performance with a loss.

Coming off their win over then-No. 15 Oklahoma State, the Hokies go on the road to West Virginia on Saturday.

They haven't played the Mountaineers since 2004. This will be just the second road game for Virginia Tech this season.

"This group, no one cares about who scores,” Johnson said. “No one cares about who gets the rebound. We're just out there playing and we're playing together and we're playing for each other. To have Erick Green as a senior leader for this team and playing the way he's playing right now, that's really big for this team."
