The Virginia Tech softball team debuts in the national polls this week. Scot Thomas and the Hokies are number 23 in the nation in the ESPN.com/USA Softball top 25.
The Hokies are 11-1 to start the season. This marks the first time Tech has been ranked in a national poll since opening the 2009 season ranked 20th in the preseason poll. Tech went 2-3 in that opening weekend and dropped out, never to return that season.
The highest Tech has ever been ranked was 8th following a College World Series appearance in 2008. The Hokies travel to Elon on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. date against the Phoenix.
