ROANOKE, Va.—

Friday morning, the football players from William Fleming and Patrick Henry broke bread together at breakfast.

Friday night the Patriots and Colonels battled for the Noel C. Taylor Trophy that annually goes to the winner of the Star City rivalry.

But the game turned ugly near the end. It was marred by an ugly brawl between the two teams during the postgame handshake. It took Roanoke City Police several minutes to restore order.

Sounds like alot of people on here are saints and have never done anything wrong... A few guys get in a fight and they dont have any home training, It's in human nature people are going to fight, not saying they should have been fighting because I dont think they shouldn't have been. @lsdj420 how do you know what grades these kids have, or what their GPA is, sounds like you have a problem with the guys that play sports, and how are you goin say they are going to be in jail soon enough????

Both teams need to be dissolved but no let's build them something else so that they can act like convicts. High school football should be halted and see if the kids playing footbal could actually pass if they didn't play football. Of course when all of the ignorant players from Fleming andP.H. graduate they can always go to Tech and continue on their road to dumbness.If you can play ball you don't have to pass any of the classes. Just make sure that butt kicking is done on the football field and someone else will study for you.

Spare...sigh. You are missing the point. The person to whom I was responding was, in essence, stating that violent action is (or should be) an accepted social norm among certain populations; my response was that the institution of slavery for thousands of years in many cultures was also an accepted social norm, and it took brave people challenging that in order to change it. I am interested in your reclassifying the incident in question as a "scuffle" instead of a "fight"...I think the point is that these people let their emotions take over, that they utilized violent action to respond tho their emotional state, and that in our society there are supposed to be consequences for one's actions. As for the magnitude of their actions (you call them "minuscule"), the courts should be the ones to judge that and therefore the severity of the consequences. Perhaps if you you'd thought of that instead of trying to insult me (e.g the "chess" comment), we wouldn't need to have this dialog. Oh well...I guess your response is indicative of the state of intellect and emotion we are dealing with. I wish you well.
