William Byrd took on Staunton River Friday night.
At the end of the first quarter, Meech Coles goes 61 yards to the endzone. A missed extra point makes it 13 nothing Staunton River.
On the ensuing kickoff for Byrd, Joe Barton runs up the middle, through the Golden Eagles special teams, and he's finally brought down at the Staunton River 18. But they waste the golden opportunity. Going for it on 4th down, Jake Barton rolls out but can't find his man, and they turn over on downs.
Later in the half, Stephen Hardy with the 22 yard chip shot field goal. It was 16 zip at half, and the Golden Eagles would cruise from there.
Staunton River wins it 28 to 8.
