Martinsville and Carroll County had just one win between them. The Bulldogs and Cavaliers hooking up tonight at Dan Green Stadium in Martinsville.
The Bulldog fans were bringing the noise tonight. It was a sluggish first quarter by both teams, but Carroll County gets the second quarter started as quarterback Conner Lundy finds Chris Smoot for a big 25 yd gain to the 36 yd line.
On 4th and 4, the Cavaliers go for it and Lundy goes to Brooks Hash in the endzone for a touchdown. The Cavaliers went for a two point conversion on a fake but to no avail and led it 6-nothing.
It"s the Bulldogs turn to strike. 1st and 10 on their own 43 yd line when Ishmel Hairston hands off to Trey Hairston and he shows off some fleet feet. Trey who turns on the afterburners all the way down to the Cavaliers seven yard line.
Ishmel finishes the drive on the keeper for a Martinsville touchdown. The Bulldogs with a little trickery
of their own on the conversion. This time it's Trey Hairston to Damien Patterson for the two pointer and the Bulldogs take the lead 8-6 going into the half. Martinsville went on to beat Carroll County 18 to 14.
