Trace McSorely threw for two touchdowns and J.T. Logan scored two Saturday, leading Briar Woods to a 28-26 victory against Christiansburg in the Group AA, Division 4 state championship.
It's the second consecutive state championship for the Falcons.
Briar Woods (14-1) led 14-13 at halftime and opened a 28-13 lead in the third quarter on a 34-yard touchdown run by Cory Colder, who rushed for 186 yards, and Logan's 1-yard run.
Christiansburg (12-2) made it interesting late, getting a 4-yard touchdown run from Zach Snell with 3:48 to play, an interception and 35-yard return to the 17 by Brendon Motley and Joey Augustin's 11-yard scoring run with 2:04 to go, but the two-point conversion
try failed.
Snell also scored on a 74-yard run in the first quarter.
