Christiansburg made its second trip to Hidden Valley this season. The Titans won the regular season meeting with a 21-point, two minute flurry late in the first half of that game. Tim Cromer and the Blue Demons were hoping to draw on some past playoff experience in this one.
The Titans were trying to hold serve at home, getting a late start after the Blue Demons bus got stuck in traffic.
Christiansburg's Joey Augustin capped a five-play, 52-yard drive on a 21-yard scamper off the left side to put the Demons up 7-zip early on.
The Titans tried to answer. On third-and-six, Nick Ratliff got out of the pocket and picked up first-down yardage to keep the Hidden Valley drive alive.
It was 4th from the 18, when Ratliff bought some time with his feet, keeping the play alive before chucking it up to his fullback Jacob Bowen at the five to setup a first-and-goal.
Hidden Valley went backwards from there though. On fourth down from the 25, Ratliff threw up a prayer in the back of the endzone. It didn’t get answered, and Christiansburg beat Hidden Valley 31-8.
The Blue Demons head to Salem next week.
