Eastern Montgomery vs. Giles

The Giles Spartans hosted Eastern Montgomery Friday night in a huge game in the Three Rivers standings.  It had the potential to be a let down game for the Mustangs following a big win over Radford, but Shawn Christian and his 58 career TD passes were out to make sure that didn't happen.

The Spartans took the field rarin' to go against the high flying Mustangs attack.  Christian wasted no time in putting it up.  He drops back and waits for his receiver, Michael Shelor, who catches it and races up the sideline, breaking a tackle and sniffing the endzone to make it 6-nothing East Mont early in the first.

Shelor gets into it again just a few minutes later, taking the handoff and breaking a couple of tackles, rumbling in on the 15 yard tally, and just like that it was 12-zip Mustangs midway thru the opening quarter.

Giles trying to hang in.  Brad Kessinger takes the snap in the single wing.  He finds lots of daylight, slicing up the Mustangs defense for the 35 yard touchdown. The Spartans were on the board, down 12-7.

The Spartans' Adam Baker doing his thing just a few minutes later.  He takes off, racing upfield on a 30 yard pickup to setup a first and goal for Giles.

Frankie Robertson would take over from there.  Robertson goes in for six more, but the Spartans still trailed 18-13.  Eastern Montgomery, too tough down the stretch.  The Mustangs stay unbeaten 53 to 27.
