Staunton River and Liberty locked up in a battle of Bedford County schools in what was also a solid matchup between two of the area's best runners, in the Eagles, Meech Coles, and Anthony Reynolds of the Minutemen.

Liberty came out of the halftime locker room with an 18-zip advantage.  Cody Outhong goes up top early in the third quarter to Matt Kerr, and Kerr lays out to make the diving catch on the 28 yard line, beating his defender by a couple steps and keeping the momentum on the home side.  But the drive would stall out from there.

Staunton River tried to rally.  Cody Jones scrambles to the sideline and throws the long ball to Sam Jennings who makes the nice leaping grab with two defenders on him, landing in the endzone early in the fourth quarter to get the Eagles on the board.

You know what's coming.  The onsides kick.  Liberty fields it at the 40, but the Eagles kickoff team applies a huge hit, and Staunton River recovered in good shape.

Jones then rolls out again and putting it up again, but his pass is tipped right to Doug Schaeffer of Liberty who makes the pick on the five yard line to save a touchdown.

Liberty won it 18 to 7.
