The Colonels entered Friday night 0 and 4, and things didn't figure to get any easier against unbeaten Salem.

Fleming had an early 21-6 lead.  Salem had the pill late in the second quarter.  Seth Fisher takes the handoff from the Fleming 29, goes up the middle, breaks several tackles and powers his way to the end zone. The two pointer failed, and the Spartans cut the deficit to 21-12 at the half.

On Salem's first possession of the second half, the Spartans drove it all the way to the Colonel 1 when Fisher gets touchdown number two to make it 21-19 early in the third.

After Fleming punted it back, the Spartans were at it again.  From the Colonel 4, Fisher does it one more time, the touchdown run gives Salem its first lead of the night, and the successful two pointer makes it 27-21 early in the 4th.

Later in the quarter, Fleming tries to cook something up on 1st and 10 from the Salem 43, Devonte Martin goes up high to Mike Anderson for a 27 yard completion to the Spartan 16 for a huge first down.

Several plays later on 4th and inches from the six, Martin muffs the snap, and Dashawn Hodnett picks it up and appears to have a first down, but the officials blow the play dead, negating a potentially crucial first down pickup much to the chagrin of an angry Coach Lee Johnson.  Salem gets the win over the Colonels 27-21 in a tight one.
