Tony Miller ran for two touchdowns and caught a scoring pass Saturday, leading Gretna to a 21-16 victory against Goochland in the Group A, Division 2 state championship game.
Miller caught a 20-yard pass from Dyon Rosser and added scoring runs of 1 and 3 yards for Gretna (13-2). He finished with 42 rushing yards, and Rosser had 148 rushing and completed 6 of 9 passes for another 86 yards.
Goochland (14-1) saw its hopes for an unbeaten season come to an end despite opening the scoring with a state playoff record 51-yard field goal by Colby Cooke. The previous record, for all groups, was a 49-yarder by Conner Hughes of Lafayette in 2001.
Cody Johnson ran for one touchdown and hit Mitchell Brice with a 70-yard pass for Goochland.
