The Gretna Hawks hosted Amelia County for a spot in the Division 2 State title game on Saturday.
Amelia's was up 6-0 in the second quarter, when they added to it. AJ Royal found Quentin Hite for the 50 yard touchdown, they missed another missed extra point, but the Raiders had a 12-0 lead.
But make way for Gretna. The Hawks drove down the field later in the second half. Dyon Rosser found Javon Bennett for the 5 yard touchdown pass, and Gretna's on the board, 12-7.
Ahead to the second half. Rosser dished it to Tony Miller who did the rest of the work. He got in from 4 yards out, and Gretna took a 13-12 lead after a missed point after.
Less than 3 minutes to play, when Royal made a costly error. Kevin Moorman stepped up big for Gretna with the interception and ran it back for the Hawks' touchdown.
Gretna scored 20 unanswered to punch their ticket to the Division 2 Championship game, beating Amelia 20-12.
Next-up for Gretna is an undefeated Goochland team in the State Championship.
