MONETA, Va.—
It was Homecoming at Staunton River as the Eagles were trying to build on their first win last week. James River already with 3 wins under their belts. The Knights quarterback Kyle King did not start, he is still dealing with a sprained ankle. The Staunton River defense was after Sherman Austin, the Knights back-up QB. Jordan Mattox pulled him down in the backfield. James River had a little more success on their next possession. Chris Moore got the hand-off and not a single Eagle touched him en route to the endzone. The Knights jumped-out with a 7- nothing lead.
On the first play of the second quarter, DeShawn Martin kept it himself and took it around the right side. He almost got in for the score, but he was taken down at the one.
The Eagles punched it in on the very next play and tied the game at 7. This one stayed close most of the game, but Staunton River pulled away late to beat James River 42-29
