In the Piedmont District, Magna Vista the league front runner took the night off.  But Martinsville played a big game at Ed Bassett Stadium, hoping to get a shot at challenging Magna Vista for the district crown next week.

Jay Gilbert's team looking for the win on homecoming night.  The Bulldogs didn't waste any time getting things cookin'. Freddie Williams takes the shotgun handoff, cuts through and is gone -- 45 yards to paydirt.  Just like that it was 7-nothing Bulldogs in the middle of the first.

On their next possession, Martinsville again keeping it on the ground with Cedric Tarpley getting the pitch, but he gets stripped. And the Bengals end up recovering.

On the very next play, Bassett quarterback DeShaun Valentine makes the pitch in traffic but the ball gets loose and nobody can grab it.  It rolls into the endzone where the Bulldogs recovered for the touchdown. Martinsville up 14-nothing early in the second quarter.

On the ensuing drive, the Bengals marching down the field.  Valentine connects with Daniel Martin for 28 yards on 4th down. He brings it down to the 7 yard-line.

Two plays later, Valentine calls his own number and cashes in -- waltzing in for the touchdown.  But Martinsville is too tough.  The Dogs win it 46 to 34.
