The 28th season of Friday Football Extra is just around the corner and high school teams all across the region hit the practice field for the first time today.

We start our previews over at Northside where Burt Torrence and the Vikings own a 15-game regular season winning streak. And despite a disappointing playoff loss to Brookville last year, the Vikes are ready to reload following a successful three-year run.

“Our guys have paid a heavy price in the offseason from all the morning workouts back in the summer to December to spring ball and 7 on 7.  They do a lot of work in the offseason for preparation and for this day and for each season.  It's exciting to see them out here with their helmets on and spirit packs on ready to go to work.  It took some young me to buy in and as they bought in and started to see a little success, success breeds success, so the expectations have risen each and every year.”

The Vikings return six starters on defense and just three on the offensive side of the ball.  Replacing playmakers like Tyler Fisher, Dakota Jackson, and Adam Hardister will be a challenge, but now it's time for others to step up.
