This week in Salem, the Spartans locked up with old rival Pulaski County. The two teams met just two weeks ago in Dublin with the Spartans posting a 28-14 win. Tonight was the 6th playoff matchup between the two schools.
In the third, Pulaski was down 10-7, but Quincy Rollins got the call and he took the pigskin 35 yards to put the Cougars in business deep in Salem territory. Rollins did the rest a few plays later on a dive play, and he was in on the TD, giving Pulaski the lead at 14-10.
Matt Hill led the Spartans on a drive though. He aired it out to Chad Fisher who was wide open on the 43 yard connection. He walked into the endzone to put Salem back on top.
Later, the Spartans were trying to put it away. Malik Eaves intercepted the Hill pass in the back of the endzone to keep the Cougars hopes alive. With under 3 minutes left, Pulaski was on the move, looking for the go ahead score, but they fumbled and Arius McConnell made the recovery.
Salem hung on for the 17 to 14 win and will host a regional final next week.
