At Northside, the Vikings hooked up with Rockbridge County in a game that would decide at least part of the Blue Ridge District championship.

Northside Coach Burt Torrence was a former college teammate of Rockbridge's Jason White at Emory and Henry, on opposite sidelines tonight.

This one was scoreless midway through the second quarter when Porter Abell called his own number.  He turned the corner for the Wildcats and sliced up the Vikings defense on a nifty little 44 yard touchdown run and Rockbridge was on the board at 7-nothing late in the second.

Northside got moving early in the third quarter though.  Dom Dunnaville aired it out down the middle of the field for Harold Buckner on a big play.  That got the Vikings into Rockbridge territory which led to a short field goal as Trey Noell booted it through and the Vikings trimmed the deficit to 7-3.

It stayed that way until late in the game.  Dunnaville tried to make something happen but his pass on fourth down fell incomplete and Rockbridge County won it to create a logjam in the Blue Ridge standings, 7 to 3 the final.
