Steve Magenbauer's Salem Spartans were at William Fleming this week.  Salem owned a ten game winning streak in the series and had won 15 of the last 16 with the Colonels.  Fleming was still looking for that elusive first win of the season.

The Blue and Gold were all jacked up for this tilt but knew it would take a great effort to upend their unbeaten visitors. Salem's defense set the tone early on, as Chad Fisher got a first quarter interception, the two way star for the Spartans found some green pastures, and took the turnover all the way to the William Fleming 11 where the offense would set up shop. It took the offense all of three plays to pound it in, Devontae Payne took care of things from 2 yards out which gave Salem a early 7-0 lead.

It would stay a defensive struggle throughout the first half, until late in the 2nd, QB Matt Hill went upstairs for a deep ball, and big 6 foot 5 Emmanuel Pollard made the catch on the Colonel 20, the 28 yard hook-up put the Spartans in field goal range with less than 30 seconds remaining in the half. Scott Look made it a two score game at the half with a 23 yard field goal.

Salem moves to 5 and 0 entering River Ridge play next week with a 31 to 6 win over William Fleming.
