Staunton River battled Rockbridge County, a team trying to bounce back from its first loss of the season against Amherst County. It was homecoming and quarterback Porter Abell was named king. The queen was Kristen Hostetter.
The Wildcats led 28 to 17 at the break and Abell put it up for Colton Wilson for a 24 yard pickup. That setup a field goal for Rockbridge and the Wildcats led 31-17. Staunton River was looking for some momentum. But Chance Holland broke up the pass from Paul Williams and the Golden Eagles turned it over on downs. Trey Merchant then ripped off a nice run. The Wildcats kept it on the ground from there and ground out the clock for a 38 to 17 win over Staunton River.
