Senior Shawn Christian from Eastern Montgomery is this week's Friday Football Extra Player of the Week.

"I don't like coming off the field," said Christian.

It is a good thing that Shawn Christian likes to be on the field for East Mont because he does it all for the Mustangs.

In their win over Radford, he threw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns, and ran for another score.

"Oh it was awesome, biggest game in school history, it was sweet," said Christian.

"We told him that, we said this is the game that you have prepared your whole life for and when a kid is a senior you can't sugar coat stuff for him.  You got to tell them it is either going to be you or it is going to be him and he played a game that he will always remember," said Mark Poston.

On Defense, Christian also showed skill and speed as he ran down one bobcat from behind.

"He was gone so all I thought about was just sprinting, I was like I got to get him, I got to get him, caught him right at the five yard line," said Christian.

"He is six foot four, he is rangy, he had an interception the other night.  We do a lot of things with him, our defensive coordinator does and Shawn is football smart, Shawn knows what to do," said Poston.

But where he shines is in directing the East Mont no huddle attack.

"I am glad I don't have to do it in all honesty cause he has to do it about 5 seconds and he has done a tremendous job with that.  He has got to know the formation, the protection, the routes, whether or not we are going to release the back.  It takes a special person to do that, but he is perfectly fit for the system," said Poston.

Christian though wasn't so sure he wanted to be the man under the gun early on.

"As a freshman I had Jeremy Smith at quarterback so I played tight end.  I was kind of scared at that point, maybe as a freshman, I don't even want to try out for quarterback and then I saw Jeremy and how he did and how he led the team.  I was like I want to be just like him and lead the team to the playoffs and then sophomore year I was starting quarterback," said Christian.

Christian would like for his decisions this year to lead the Mustangs back to the post-season.
